Is it mandatory for the purchaser of the tickets to be one of the passengers?

A passenger does not necessarily have to use their own card to pay for the ticket. Any
card can be used, but please note that the passenger, for whom the ticket is purchased,
must have an accompanying identification document, along with the ticket, when
boarding the bus.
